The 2-Bedroom Queen Gear Room: A Little Courtesy Goes a Long Way
It’s a holiday tournament weekend, and the youth hockey team has arrived at the hotel ready for three days of hockey, fun, and—let’s be honest—a whole lot of gear.
Knowing that hockey equipment and hotel rooms aren’t always the best combination, the team has rented an additional room specifically to become the “gear room.” Sticks line the walls, equipment bags are opened, skates are drying, and sweaty jerseys and pads are getting ready for the next game.
But this team came prepared.
Along with their hockey gear, they brought Fresh Gear – The Ultimate Odor Eliminator. Throughout the weekend, the players and parents use Fresh Gear sparingly on the team’s soft gear, helping eliminate the odors that naturally build up after hours of hard-fought hockey. A quick application keeps the gear room noticeably fresher and helps prevent the room from becoming an overwhelming combination of sweat, equipment, and hockey-bag odor.
It’s a simple step, but it makes a big difference—not just for the team, but for the hotel housekeeping staff.
When the tournament ends and checkout arrives, the team knows someone has to turn that extra room around for the next guest. By keeping the gear room fresh throughout the weekend, they’ve made the housekeeping team’s job a little easier and the room a little quicker to prepare.
Before leaving, the team manager takes one final step. He leaves an extra bottle of Fresh Gear with the hotel manager along with a simple note:
“Thank you for hosting our team this weekend. We appreciate everything you’ve done to make our tournament experience a great one. Please enjoy a bottle of Fresh Gear—our little way of saying thank you!”
“When you don’t know where to go, go where you’re needed.” — Shoresy, Season 4
PS - This is also a great way for the Fresh Thinker on the team (maybe the team manager) to set up the hotel to purchase Fresh Gear. Imagine how many other weekend tournaments, teams and gear rooms are in the hotel’s future (and now they have a solution).
